TRAINING POLICY

 

  • Effective from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
  • This policy supersedes and renders obsolete all previous policies regarding training.
  • For courses already begun on or before March 1, 2026, the teacher can choose either the old or new policy.
  • May be renewed annually by resolution of the MBL board.
  • This grant does not apply to current ACBL members or inactive members.
  • Courses must be open to all new players.
  • Given its mission and vision, the MBL promotes training activities that encourage membership in the ACBL.
    • Mission
      • The Montreal Bridge League’s mandat is to promote bridge;
      • By working closely with all stakeholders : players, volunteers, affiliated clubs, instructors, directors, the ACBL, etc.;
      • While encouraging ACBL membership;
      • The enjoyment of the game, competition, and the players themselves are key elements in fulfilling its mission.
    • Vision
      • The MBL’s vision is to combine the competitive aspects with the social appeal of the game;
      • The MBL organizes tournaments and other activities to create opportunities for all players to compete while having fun and being entertained;
      • The MBL supports the development of bridge and the implementation of various initiatives promoting membership in the ACBL.
    • Participants must register with the ACBL.
    • The list of participants must be pre-approuved by the MBL before the start of the training and the ACBL membership numbers must be sent no later than 1 month after the end of the course.
    • The course syllabus must be posted on the MBL website before the begining of the course.
    • Subject to the student’s completion of the course and the professor’s approval, the MBL will subsidize:
      • The initial 39$ USD ACBL membership for the student’s first full year;
      • The equivalent of 50$ in entrance fees to an ACBL club of the student’s choice;
      • Four entrance tickets for student to an ACBL tournament organized by the MBL.
